We already know that singing is an enjoyable and powerful way to strengthen the voice. However, after thousands of years of practice in the East, the power of chanting mantra in Sanskrit is becoming recognised in the Western World. Chanting uses the voice to combine sound with considered intent. On a material level, chants can be used, for example, to help you get a new job, move house or find a new partner. Chanting can also be used to help you overcome illness and achieve better health. Emotionally, it can help you deal with issues such as anger, frustration and jealousy. Mentally, chanting can help you deal with such conditions as depression and memory loss. Spiritually, chanting can help you develop a greater sense of connection with God.

Chanting in a group is a powerful, life enhancing experience which brings people together in community. Chanting together can also offer a practical way of helping to ease world events. A group of 15 people chanting for an hour has been documented as clearing the pollution in a lake after a disastrous chemical spill. Imagine what could happen if thousands of people from all over the world joined together to chant for peace in Libya or ease the suffering in Japan after the earthquake.

Enlightened Voices will run fortnightly on Wednesday evenings from 8 – 9.30pm at The Pine Lodge in May and continue through the summer, being held outside to celebrate the summer on two occasions. Everyone is welcome. £10 per session. Please come along and see how chanting can help you make a difference.
